Updated core wiki system to the latest version. We also have some exciting news! RotaractorWiki is becoming an official project of Big West Rotaract MDIO. This move will provide this project more financial support, as well as allow for this project to become officially recognized by Rotary.

Just updated the core wiki system to the latest version. All email notifications are also now being sent out with Sendgrid to help avoid being caught in spam filters. More updates to the wiki system are coming in the next few weeks. The RotaractorWiki moderators will also be at the RI Convention in Sao Paulo this year! See you all there! --Mitty (talk) 17:02, 18 February 2015 (PST)

This summer RotaractorWiki will be turning two years old. This project began as an idea from a breakout session during the 2012 Bangkok Rotaract Preconvention: a universal online library of resources for all things Rotaract and Rotary related. We are thrilled to announce we have surpassed 250,000 site visitors! Our information library continues to grow on a weekly basis, and this encourages us to continue moving forward. Several core system updates have been made to today's patch, which brings us to the latest stable version of MediaWiki. With your help, we will continue to grow this wiki for Rotaract. Keep an eye out for us at the Sydney Rotary International Convention this year if you're going to be there! --Mitty (talk) 13:06, 7 April 2014 (PDT)

Happy New Year, Rotaractors! I hope you all had a great holiday season and are ready to start the second half of the Rotary year with a bang! In case you haven't heard, this year, RI President Ron Burton is hosting a series of Presidential New Generations Conferences to bring together emerging young leaders and Rotary members from around the world! Check out our upcoming events page and see if there's one happening near you! --Yvonne (talk) 01:50, 8 January 2014 (PST)

Hello, Rotaractors! This is just a quick note to let you know that manual account approval has been re-enabled for all new wiki accounts. This is in light of the huge number of bots and spam that have been appearing in the absence of the manual approval, so thank you for understanding and being patient with us! As long as you are a Rotaractor, you will definitely be approved :) --Yvonne (talk) 13:30, 6 August 2013 (PDT)

June 18, 2013

Hello all! RotaractorWiki recently received some extra attention in the lime light from the team at Evanston, featuring RotaractorWiki on the email to all Rotaract Preconvention attendees. We want to take this time to deeply thank all of our contributors for adding to the ever-growing wealth of knowledge we have here. We are confident that together we can create a stronger, central resource for Rotaractors everywhere. That being said, those of you who frequent the wiki will also know that we are constantly bombarded by spambots. In a renewed and more aggressive effort to combat spam, we will be once again re-enabling manual account approval for all new wiki accounts starting on July 1, 2013. From then on, all new wiki accounts will need to be approved by the moderating team before they can make any contributions. Thanks for your understanding! --Mitty (talk) 04:18, 18 June 2013 (PDT)

March 14, 2013

Happy World Rotaract Week everyone! Quick update: as an effort to combat the ongoing spambots that keep meddling in our affairs, we've enabled email confirmation protocols for all accounts--including existing ones. You will find that you now need to validate your email before you can edit any page; this applies to existing users as well! To confirm your email, just go to your user preferences and request to send a confirmation email to yourself. This will send you an email with a validation link. Just click on the link and you will be good to go! Thanks. :) --Mitty (talk) 02:35, 14 March 2013 (PDT)

January 23, 2013

We have been getting a lot of new visitors and entries over the past few days, ever since we started publicizing our new goal of adding EVERY Rotaract club in existence to the wiki by late June! To help ease the account creation process we have re-enabled automatic account creation process. Now you don't have to wait for a moderator/admin to approve you! We disabled the manual process because of error reports. We are still investigating this issue, and may bring back manual account approval sometime in the future. For now, just keep building the Rotaract Wiki! --Mitty (talk) 22:17, 23 January 2013 (PST)

January 18, 2013

Happy belated new year, Rotaractors! I know we've hit a bit of a dry period in terms of updates for this Wiki, but we have some exciting news for you! With the new Rotary year coming upon us in a mere six months, we have a new Rotary theme that you can read all about! You can also find a quick blurb about our RI President Elect Ron Burton. And even MORE exciting news? We're making it our goal to list all 9,000+ Rotaract Clubs in the world on this Wiki before the RI Convention in Lisbon. These aren't going to be complete pages, but merely Stubs, which means that we need your help to make them complete! We'll start the article off for you, but you need to finish it! We've already got District 1010 up and are making our way through the rest. If we haven't gotten to your club yet and you're itching for a page, feel free to create one on your own! :) Just follow the Model Rotaract Club Page if you have no idea how to start or message one of the admins. Cheers! --Yvonne (talk) 16:56, 18 January 2013 (PST)

Manual approval only. It's a sad day when spambots have forced us to turn off automatic account approval, but unfortunately the day has come. After combating spam for the past two months, the wiki admin team has decided that we are now only allowing accounts via a manual approval process. This process actually requires users to give their real name as well as give a short bio of yourself for the admin team to read. This information is what we will base account approvals by, so please take a minute to fill something in. I know it's an extra step, and I apologize for the inconvenience--but think about it this way: it's a great way to tell us more about the Rotaract or Rotary club you're with and how you got involved. We'll move over your bio information to the appropriate page on the wiki unless you specify otherwise. --Mitty (talk) 15:24, 27 September 2012 (PDT)

September 23, 2012

We've been busy combatting spambots lately, as well as cleaning up more pages and adding new categories. We're excited to see that more Rotaractors and Rotaract Clubs are getting on RotaractorWiki and utilizing this new but growing library of Rotaract knowledge! Be sure to keep telling your friends. We are working on some more upgrades to the wiki system here, as well as new wiki content sections. --Mitty (talk) 21:46, 23 September 2012 (PDT)

New featured picture and 20% off code for airfare to Lisbon: We've recently changed our feature picture! As much as we love RI President Sakuji Tanaka, we thought it would be nice to put a display of Rotary International's commitment to eradicate polio. Thanks to the Rotaract Club of La Baie de Saint Paul for taking such an awesome photo! We've also added in a 20% off code for airfare for those of you who are planning on attending the Rotary International Convention in Lisbon, Portugal next year. Just check out the Getting To Lisbon in June 2013 (Planning Process) section! Of course, thank you to EVERYONE who has contributed to our wiki thus far, whether it's writing one article or making one edit; we wouldn't be here if it weren't for all of your contributions! You're all awesome :) --Yvonne (talk) 15:30, 18 September 2012 (PDT)

Short URLs & Lightboxes: We have added in two new features! The first one is short URLs. You'll notice that many links will now look like instead of using index.php?title=ReallyLongEtc. This is to improve semantics & user-friendliness of the URLs. The old URLs should still work though. The second feature added are the lightboxes. Now all pictures (that have thumbnails or somewhere to go to) will display the larger version in a lightbox when you click on the photo. Both of these new features are to increase usability and overall prettiness of the wiki. Cheers :] --Mitty (talk) 18:28, 26 July 2012 (PDT)

Wow! To think that it's already been 43 days since we launched this project! Over the past month and a half, we have seen over 500 unique visitors from over 20 different countries visit this wiki project!!! That's incredible! All of this growth could not have been made possible without the hard work and contributions of writers to our Wiki. To everyone who has made a single contribution -- whether that's writing a completely new wiki page or just doing a simple edit -- THANK YOU so much!! For those of you who have not made a contribution yet, please take a few minutes out of your busy schedule and write something!

In other wiki news, the admins and I have been constantly tackling and combating the recent attack of spam bots. While we do that, we're also constantly making updates to the wiki's systems to make your experience more enjoyable and easier. So keep an eye out for those changes! :) --Mitty (talk) 01:06, 24 July 2012 (PDT)

p.s. if you haven't had a chance yet, check out our 2013 RI Convention - Lisbon page! It's incredible and jam-packed with useful information!

June 28, 2012

Hey everyone! This is a quick but exciting announcement to say that we now have an official Facebook page! Hopefully this will gain us some more traffic and exposure to get this project out there and really rolling. Be sure to click on the link and like it and share with all of your friends! --Yvonne (talk) 00:57, 28 June 2012 (PDT)

June 25, 2012

We got published on RotaractNET! We're slowly gaining some more traffic; great to see Rotaractors from all around the world starting to see this new little project. :) I also added in an achievement/badge program to kind of make things a little bit more fun. This part is entirely experimental, and may be removed at any time! Please comment in the discussion on what you think. Thanks and keep writing! --Mitty (talk) 01:04, 25 June 2012 (PDT)

June 16, 2012

It's been almost a full week since the official beta launch of this project. We've put a significant amount of hours to build and write the close to three dozen different pages for this wiki thus far. I'm particularly excited about the PolioPlus, Interota, Rotary International Convention. and RI Convention 2013 Lisbon pages. The Downloads portal is also slowly coming along. We're still in need of contributors and writers to help us populate this Wiki with Rotaract/Rotary knowledge! I highly encourage you to create an account and start writing! Start by writing an entry about your Rotaract Club and local Rotary Clubs, and then linking it to the right page in the Portal:RotaractClubs -Mitty

Hello and welcome to the RotaractorWiki Project! It's been about a month since the Rotaract Pre-convention in Bangkok, Thailand ended, and I am excited to have the opportunity to work on this wiki with all of you. If you are reading this, then you are an early adopter of this project and I thank you for that. As a new Wiki, many pages are still lacking or don't even exist yet. We need YOUR help in order to grow this Wiki! If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me. -Mitty
