Local Projects

It's part of the territory when a club/group labels themselves a community based organization to naturally draw the conclusion they are involved in local projects. SLO has not only become involved in pre-existing projects (partnering with local Rotary Clubs) but established fundraisers for areas that needed advocacy. Some we participated in this year: Hunger NowRun the 1 Strike Out Stigmaemail

Coats 4 Kids

Throughout the month of October, we collect new and gently used coats of all sizes to help those in need throughout the Central Coast. Meathead Movers, a local student-athlete moving company, donates the boxes for us to use every year to leave at participating companies for coat collection. Paul's Dry Cleaning takes the gently used coats that require some cleaning and they dry clean them for free. The coats are then distributed to the local charity organizations requesting coats.

Flavor of SLO

Flavor of SLO is an annual food, wine and beer tasting event that benefits United Way of San Luis Obispo County. It began as a Cal Poly student's senior project and in 2015, Rotaract Club of San Luis Obispo undertook the project. Guests enjoy an afternoon at the beautiful and historic Jack House and Gardens in downtown San Luis Obispo while sampling some of the best food, wine and beer the Central Coast has to offer! Each year this event raises thousands of dollars to benefit United Way of San Luis Obispo County, which seeks to create lasting change in the community by focusing on the building blocks for a good life: education, income and health.
